How We Are Funded

Our Council is Funded Through Community Support and Fundraisers

The communities we serve recognize the importance of the work we do. Bringing the values of Scouting to life (like everything else) requires money. Because we strive to keep Scouting affordable for everyone, we often turn to our community partners for support. South Florida Council is honored by the generous support of all our funding partners.

Friends of Scouting

Our annual giving campaign reaches out to members and supporters for an annual financial pledge.

Activity Income

Our Scouting programs host a variety of year-round activities. Registration fees from these are used to offset the costs of activities and property upkeep.

United Way

United Way support comes from individuals who choose to designate their United Way gift to Scouting.

Please designate it to:  South Florida Council, Inc, BSA

Foundations

Many corporate, family and local foundations support Scouting.

Special Events

Special events like the Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner, Hispanic Heritage Awards, Sporting Clays Tournament, and Graham Golf Tournament raise the money necessary to keeping Scouting strong.

Camp Cards – Spring Sale

This coupon card include discounts from various local businesses represented in the South Florida and typically have one time use “break off” coupons along with multi-use offers. The cards are offered at the low price point of $5.00. Customers recoup their donation by using one of the two one-time coupons, and enjoy multiple food, service and entertainment discounts throughout the year.

Popcorn Sale – Online and Fall Sales

Our Popcorn comes in a wide variety of flavors and combinations and 73% of every popcorn dollar helps local Scouting.

First Aid Kit Sales – Online and through Fall Sales

Our First Aid Kits have a variety of convenient zip lock kits individually tailored for specific needs, home kits, as well as kits designed for businesses.

Investments & Endowments

The Council has an investment portfolio that generates modest income each year. Some income is designated to specific Scouting needs like camp maintenance or scholarships.
