Our fun Theme        Rocket Into Scouting

 

What is it? The Cub Scout Family Fun Day & Campout is an opportunity for Cub Scouts and their families to start the Cub Scout year off with a fun outdoor event. This Cub Family Fun Day will feature games and activities designed for the entire family.

When? Saturday, October 3, 2020, beginning at 9:00 am and concluding by 3:00 pm.

Gates open for Participants at 8 AM, all activities start at 9 AM Sharp

Registration: Available online at www.sfcbsa.org . Patch and lunch guaranteed ONLY if registered by September 27, 2020 by  11 PM.

Event  locations WILL close when capacity is FULL based on COVID capacity for that location. Please choose a different location if your first choice is at capacity.

Rockets:

All new Scouts registering this fall will receive a new Gnome Model Rocket to bring to the Cub Fun Day with them.

Their Unit Leader can arrange to pick them up at the South Florida Council Tatham Office, or through their District Executive.

Build you model rocket at home, or with your Den as a Den activity- then bring it out and shoot it off.

Additional Model Rockets are available for purchase from the Council. Purchase them online and have your Unit Leader bring

in your receipt to pick up your rocket or come by yourself.

Lots of Rocket engines will be at all Cub Fun Day locations for you to come out an launch your own rockets.

Online Registration CLOSES on September 27, 2020, at 11:00 PM. Individual camp location reservations stop when that camp location reaches its COVID capacity.

Where? Attend one of these three locations:

• Camp Elmore (Broward County) 3551 SW 142 Avenue (Boy Scout Road, Davie, FL 33330
• Camp Owaissa Bauer (Miami Dade County ) 17001 SW 264th St, Homestead, FL 33031
• Camp Sawyer (Monroe County) MM 34, 33990 South Overseas Highway, US1, Scout Key, Fl 33043

 

Cost?

$ 10 Day Pass per person (including adults and siblings). Fee covers lunch & patch if paid by 09/27/20

$ 20 Two Night Camping (including adults and siblings). Fee covers 1 lunch & patch if paid by 09/27/20

Supervision?  A parent or guardian must accompany and be responsible for each Cub Scout and other family members (siblings) for the entire day event, and for any overnight camping

Weather? This is a “rain or shine” event.

Food? Lunch Saturday is provided for all pre-registered participants if paid by September 27, 2020 by 11 PM.

We are taking extra additional sanitization precautions

 

Additional precautions for COVID-19 in order to attend safely-All persons must wear a mask at all times.    

All groups must be less than 10 total together. 

No one may attend:

Whom has COVID-19, or COVID-19 symptoms. Or whom is feeling sick.

Whom has a temperature over 100 degrees.

Whom has been in contact with anyone with COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms in 14 days

Camping is available at:

Monroe County———Camp Sawyer from 5:00 pm Friday to Sunday at 11 AM.

What to Bring? Each family is responsible for their own equipment for the Day Event or for
Camping. Suggested items to bring for camping:
✓ Tent, Sleeping bag, blankets, pillow, air mattress or pad
✓ Rain gear, Change of clothes, close-toed shoes
✓ Toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, washcloth, towel
✓ Hat or cap, water bottle, flashlight, sunscreen, sunglasses, Insect repellent,
camera

A Parent must be registered for every Cub Scout attending.

Refunds? Refunds are not available, but fees are transferable to another Scout prior to start of event, if the above
